Eeva-Mari Haikala's solo show in V/MSP Gallery, Brussels
Haikala’s first solo show in V/MSP Gallery in Brussels premiers a video work Hamish and Eeva. It is a lens-based performance inspired by Welsh painter Gwen John’s (1876–1939) letters and notebooks. Those texts reminded Haikala the issues of loneliness and longing, and led her to the consideration of how to bodily express these fragile themes. Hamish and Eeva also inquiries into how sculpture, painting and performance relate to the camera. The exhibition is open from October 7 to December 16.
Displayed are also Eeva-Mari Haikala’s older work Beetroot (2006) and still photos.
