Finnish media art and artists are widely presented at the 28. Stuttgarter Filmwinter – Festival for Expanded Media held in Stuttgart, Germany between January 15–18, 2015
Stuttgarter Filmwinter is a prestigious international festival of short and experimental film as well as new media.
A total of seven works have been selected Stuttgarter Filmwinter’s 2015 programme through AV-arkki’s distribution.
Five works compete in the International Short Film Competition: Minispectacles 9 x Solo, Duo, Trio, Quartet by Maarit Suomi-Väänänen, The Case by Cecilia Stenbom, Ring by Azar Saiyar and Sini Liimatainen, Disemboat by Jukka Silokunnas and Transit by Lauri Astala.
Two works, Barbieworld Experience Part 1 – Overture by Dave Berg and Play This at My Funeral by Niina Lehtonen Braun and Tellervo Kalleinen, were also selected for a special programme titled End of Time. Sami van Ingen’s live-film-performance Primaries is seen twice in Welcome to the New Age -section of the festival’s program.
Mika Taanila joins festival jury in 2015
Director and visual artist Mika Taanila has been invited to join the festival’s Short Film Jury during 15.–18.1.2015. In addition, total of seven works by Taanila are presented in two special Retrospectives programmes, including Physical Ring, The Future Is Not What It Used to Be, Optical Sound, The Zone of Total Eclipse, Futuro – A New Stance For Tomorrow, RoboCup99 and Six Day Run. Taanila will also have special DJ-gig titled Stimulus Progression (Asceding Curve Denials) on 17.1.2015.
