Tellervo Kalleinen, Oliver Kochta-Kalleinen, Jaakko Pallasvuo and MSL featured at Cure Park, NL
The summer program of Cure Park, Amsterdam features an installation by Tellervo Kalleinen and Oliver Kochta-Kalleinen and a short film by Jaakko Pallasvuo and MSL. Centered around the Bostheater, Cure Park brings together over 30 artists, creatives and thinkers with audiences and care professionals in a multidimensional program, comprising installations, experiments, interventions, workshops, exercises, lectures, performances and films.
Tellervo Kalleinen‘s and Oliver Kochta-Kalleinen‘s installation is called Temporary Pavilion for Permanent Negotiations. Prior to the start of Cure Park, the artistic duo Tellervo Kalleinen and Oliver Kochta-Kalleinen collected stories about conflicts. They called on people to write a story about a conflict: at work, in a relationship, in the neighborhood or on a world scale. A selection of these stories will be set up and retold by mediator Chantal van Doesburgh in the Temporary Pavilion for Permanent Negotiations. In an arena made of sand she makes the problems visible and palpable with the help of props and spatial interventions.
Jaakko Pallasvuo‘s and MSL’s (Jari Kallio & Antti Jussila) short film Bridge Over Troubled Water is included in the film program Human / Nonhuman on Friday, July 14 at 18:00. The screening consists of three short films that explore the limits of communication between humans and non-humans including technology, animals and matter. Through sound and music they explore the desire to connect with that which escapes language.
Bridge Over Troubled Water had its world festival premiere at International Film Festival Rotterdam. It’s 1967, 2015, 2515, 10000 AD. Simon and Garfunkel are travelling through time. Seeking an answer to their growing sadness and anxiety, brought on partly by the slowly overwhelming presence and existential treath of the climate change, they head to the coast, are incarcerated, visit the botanical garden in Turku, and watch Jake Gyllenhaal in Deep Impact in a darkened room. Above the tree line and into the Arctic Circle our protagonists find themselves in Kilpisjärvi, at the most northwestern point of Finland where they are – perhaps more than usual – alone together.
