19.08.2016

Jan Ijäs’s Waste no. 2 Wreck (2016, 09:51) will have its Italian premiere at the 15th Concorto Film Festival, held from 20–27 August in Piacenza, Italy. Waste no. 2 Wreck will be screened on Monday the 22 August.

Previously screened e.g. at Edinburgh International Film Festival, Waste no. 2 Wreck is a second part of a series contemplating on waste left over by modern society. Wreck (Lampedusa, Italy, 2015) was filmed in 2014 and 2015 in the graveyard for refugee boats on the Italian island of Lampedusa. It is a story about how the value of garbage and rubbish can surprisingly change.

Jan Ijäs’s films deal with serious and difficult social themes, like migration into foreign and hostile societies. Ijäs’s films have been shown very widely abroad by over a hundred film festivals and as installations in museums and galleries.
