Risto-Pekka Blom’s Theme Park screened at Rooftop Films, New York

Risto-Pekka Blom’s short film Theme Park (2015) opens the closing night screening of the Rooftop Films series on Saturday, August 19 at 20:00. Rooftop Films travels around the New York City presenting events on rooftops, parks, and other scenic spots, celebrating and exploring film, music, art and the spectacular locales themselves. The closing night of the summer 2017 edition takes place in Sunset Park, Brooklyn.

Theme Park is a video about an air-filled figure at the shopping centre. The voice-over gives a twisted insight to the popular self-help discourse. The film won the Main Prize at Tampere Film Festival and Helsinki Short Film Festival in 2015 and a Honorary Mention at Kyiv International Short Film Festival in 2016.

Risto-Pekka Blom (b. 1970) graduated from technical education but never felt motivated to pursue a career as technician. For a few years he was looking for his purpose in life, until in the age of 27 he started a short course of Audiovisual Media and Expression, after which he graduated from Tampere Polytechnic School of Art and Media in 2005. Since then Blom’s video art and experimental short films have been exhibited in festivals and events in over twenty countries.
