Johanna Lecklin's The Cage competes at International Children's FF Bangladesh

Johanna Lecklin’s The Cage (2015) is screened in the international competition of 10th International Children’s Film Festival Bangladesh, held from January 24–30.

The Cage deals with a memory of a horrible childhood experience. A woman tells about a childhood bullying incident that she has not forgiven. She meets her bully when she is adult but does not want to see that the other has changed. The story is told in backflashes.

Johanna Lecklin (b. 1972) graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in 2003 and studied in London at the Slade School of Fine Art, in UCL. Lecklin works with video and photography. Her video work is based on documentary, narrativity and performativity. Lecklin’s works have been presented in numerous exhibitions in Finland and abroad, including the City States exhibition at Liverpool Biennial (2010) and It’s a Setup at Contemporary Art Museum Kiasma in Helsinki (2010).
