Minna Långström's and Axel Straschnoy's works @ arteBA, Buenos Aires
Minna Långström’s The Line – Four Projections (2012) and Axel Strachnoy’s The Figure of the Earth (2015) are screened at CPR Film Festival as a part of The Open Forum section of arteBA. Held from May 19–22 in Buenos Aires, arteBA is Latin America’s largest contemporary art fair. Sponsored by the Ministry of Culture of the City Government, The Open Forum is a venue for debates and screenings open to the public free of charge. The CPR Film Festival is organised by The Curatorial Program for Research, an international network for curators, artists and institutions. The CPR Film Festival at arteBA, titled “Closer to the Border”, is curated by Brazilian curator Tainá Azeredo.
The screenings of “Closer to the Border” takes place at the Open Forum on Sunday, May 22 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Minna Långström’s The Line – Four Projections is an account of one woman coming to terms with her own non-motherhood reflected against various feminine mythical personifications manifested in Ingmar Bergman’s Persona (1966). Minna Långström is a media artist who works with short film and installation. Her works often deal with screen based visual culture in relation to the subjective human experience. Långström will be present at the CPR Film Festival in Buenos Aires.
Axel Strachnoy’s La figure de la terre is a short film based on the book by the same name published by Pierre Louis Moreau de Maupertuis. Maupertuis narrates his trip to the Tornio valley in 1736/7 as the head of the first ever international scientific expedition. Axel Straschnoy (b. 1978) is a visual artist from Buenos Aires, Argentina based in Helsinki specialized in research-focused projects.
