AV-arkki is proud to announce that two works have been selected to the programme of Japan Media Arts Festival through AV-arkki’s distribution.
This year the 17th Festival received a record 4,347 entries from 84 countries and regions around the world for the festival’s preliminary competition. The Festival presents a cross-section of contemporary artworks from diverse genres and gives awards in each of its four divisions: Art, Entertainment, Animation and Manga. The Extensive film programme of the festival offers new perspectives on emerging styles of filmic expression and it presents an experience of new cultural forms and ideas made possible by evolving technology.
Archipelago Science Fiction by Tellervo Kalleinen & Oliver Kochta-Kalleinen and Race Code by Timo Wright are presented in the Jury Selections programme of the Art division together with 30 other works. Race Code will be presented in the Jury Selections Exhibition and Archipelago Science Fiction will be presented in the film programme. Members of the art division jury were Hisanori Gogota, Masahiro Miwa, Aomi Okabe, Shiro Takatani and Yuka Uematsu.
The Festival programme holds approximately 90 talk events, workshops, performances, etc. throughout the entire duration of the festival. AV-arkki’s director Ms. Hanna Maria Anttila will represent AV-arkki at the festival as a guest of The Finnish Institute in Japan. The 17th Japan Media Arts Festival will be held from Wednesday February 5 to Sunday February 16, 2014 at the National Art Center, Tokyo and other venues.
