Jan Ijäs's works shown in Germany and Belgium
Jan Ijäs’s Waste no. 2 Wreck (2016) is screened at 20minmax International Short Film Festival, held in Ingolstadt from June 4–10. The screening takes place on June 8 at 8:00 P.M. at Audi Programmkino.
Waste no. 2 Wreck was filmed in 2014 and 2015 in the graveyard for refugee boats on the Italian island of Lampedusa. It is a story about how the value of garbage and rubbish can surprisingly change. The film will be screened later this month as a part of the Finnish focus of the Edinburgh International Film Festival.
Ijäs’s Time Capsule in Geluveld, Belgium
Jan Ijäs’s recent work, Time Capsule (2016), will be shown in an exhibition in the Saint Margaret Church, Geluveld, Belgium from June 4 to September 25. Time Capsule documents Belgain artist Louis de Cordier’s underground library and a seedbank for non-genetically modified plants in Sierra Nevada mountains, Spain.
The exhibition is a part of a larger event “Menin Road – Ypernstrasse”, which pays hommage to a road that was the scene of frequent encounters between cavalry patrols during the First World War.
