Mika Karhu has practiced as an artist since 1991. He has studied at the Lahti art insitute and the University of Art and Design, Helsinki (Pallas program of fine arts). Works with different mediums alike drawing, video and installation. Practiced as a researher, curator and teacher at the UIAH since 2000. Published multiple articles on contemporary art both in Finland and abroad. Works in collections: Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art, Finnish National Gallery, Helsinki City Art Museum, The State Art Collection and others. Has held 15 solo-exhibitions, latest Gallery Heino, Helsinki, 2004. Currently holds a 5-year state grant and is finishing his doctoral thesis.
