Kaisu Koski graduated from the Faculty of Art and Design at the University of Lapland, and
she holds a PhD in Media Studies. Her dissertation Augmenting Theatre: Engaging with the Content of Performances and Installations on Intermedial Stages (2007) elaborates on the ways screen- and phone-based technology is currently employed onstage. In 2009 Kaisu also completed DasArts, Master of Theatre program at the Amsterdam School of the Arts.
Kaisu’s art practice is related to scientific research she undertakes, focusing currently on the dialogue between art, medicine and life sciences. She also specializes in so-called artistic research and employs art as an instrument to unravel scientific views on the body. Kaisu is currently affiliated with her postdoctoral research with the Arts and Genomics Centre, Leiden University. Next to exhibiting her work internationally, Kaisu gives lectures on artistic research and medical humanities in several universities and art schools.
