Cecilia Stenbom\'s work draws on her own susceptibility to be manipulated by mass media and popular culture and her real anxiety around how best to navigate fact and fiction. Taking her source material from public distribution media such as television, movies, advertising, government information broadcast, 24-hour news, and the Internet, Stenbom examines our anxieties and desires, reinterpreting scenarios within mass media, retail, and domestic life.
Cecilia Stenbom was born in Stockholm, Sweden in 1976. She completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the Academy of Fine Arts in Helsinki, Finland in 2003 and a Master of Fine Art at Glasgow School of Art in 2005.
