Anu Pennanen is an artist working within urban public space and its relation to cinema and media, based in Berlin. She was born 1975 in Kirkkonummi, Finland, to a family of a social worker mother and electrician father. She is interested in creating narratives with people situated or living in alienating architectural structures of power. Sites serve as backdrops for events acted by people, over a given period of time. Film is used as a reflexive medium and a productive space to re-negotiate with reality. Her position as an artist is as much one of a negotiator listener and flâneur than writer, editor and director of films.
